A Queens man left homeless by Hurricane Sandy is still sleeping on a grocery store cot right across the street from FEMA headquarters in Hamilton Beach, but now the Red Cross is coming to his aid.
PIX11 alerted the Red Cross after outreach to FEMA did nothing to fix Michael Riley’s housing problems. PIX11 first reported on his plight on Wednesday.
“I feel sorry for people with kids. Don’t worry about me, worry about them,” Riley said.
The Red Cross says they will send case workers out Friday and help place him in a shelter or safe place to live.
