Are you ready for a test?

It involves sitting on the floor and getting up without using your hands, arms or knees to help you.  It’s harder than you think and researchers say how difficult or easy it is could determine how long you’re going to live.

The test is based on a point system that correlates with how much assistance you need.

Middle-aged and elderly people who needed to use both hands and knees to get up and down were almost seven times more likely to die within six years, compared to those who could spring up and down without support.

The test looks at factors like body flexibility, fitness and motor coordination and is designed to give a quick window into how a person functions.
