NUTLEY, NJ (WPIX) – The youngest member of the Rojas family, 20 year old Shamyra Rojas is missing and the family believes she was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend 18 year old Ahmed Hassan Dar.

Missing NJIT student from Nutley, NJ is missing, ex-boyfriend suspected “She wanted to get away from him, but she wasn’t able to.  I just pray to God that my sister is okay,” said Shamyra’s older brother, Alfredo Rojas.

Rojas’ brother said their mother spoke to Shamyra around 12:45pm on Monday and Shamyra said she was going to send a picture of her nails she just had done, but that picture never came.

Nutley Police told PIX11, Rojas was last seen that same day at the parking deck at the NJIT campus in Newark and they  have surveillance video of her there.  Detectives are calling her disappearance suspicious because Shamyra left her without her car, her cell phone and purse still inside.

Rojas’ family said the Rojas and Dar were involved in a relationship for the past year, but in the last 4 months things went south between the young couple, even violent.  They cited one incident, Dar apparently attacked one of Shamyra’s friends.

Just last week, they say Dar pushed Shamyra down the stairs then hit her repeatedly on the head.  That attack landed the young woman in the hospital.

If anyone has any information about Rojas or Dar’s whereabouts, you’re asked to call the Nutley Police Department at (973) 284-4940.
