3-alarm blaze ravages Union City apartment building

Firefighters battled a large 3-alarm fire that started around 3 p.m. Monday in Union City, NJ. With flames shooting out of the roof of the 4-floor residential building, the the blaze was still not extinguished by 5 p.m. at the time of this update.

The building is at 411 Bergenline Ave. at the intersection with Fifth St.  Smoke from the fire could be clearly seen in the nearby city of Hoboken.  The first floor is all storefront with three floors of apartments above it.

As firefighters battled the blaze, the roof of the building caved into the third floor.

All of the residents were evacuated and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown
